Motivational programme to teachers of Shrishti Vidyalam School, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India about Space Camp, USA


Shrishti Matric Higher Secondary Vidyalam - CBSE School, Vellore, Tamilnadu.

Vellore is a Educational town located in Tamilnadu state of India, which is about 25o kms away from Bangalore city. It was a privillege to share my experiences of Space camp with the teachers of Shrishti Higher Secondary School. I was invited by this prestigeous institution on 17th Nov 2007 at 10.30am to deliver a talk about my space camp experiences and also to know more about opportunities to participate in the space camp, for their teachers. There were about 80 teachers who attended this programe and they were enthusiastic to know the procedures involved to participate in the space camp. Some of the teaching methodologies included in the teaching module at space camp, has inspired every teacher to adopt the same in their class room
I have also provided the information for applying for the space camp 2008 batch



Response: There was an overwhelming response from teachers and the management to know more about availability of teaching materials of space technology. They also asked my suggestion to procure books related to space technology for the library. They wanted to know the avenues available for the children to take up further studies related to space science.

They have also invited me to deliver a talk to their children to inculcate the interest among them to pursue their higher studies in space science.

Presentation of Space Camp Experiences to fellow teachers at Auden Public School, Bangalore


I was invited by the Mangement of Auden Public School, Bangalore to share
my experiences of space camp workshop held during Jun 07 at Space Camp,
Huntsville, Alabama, USA. I gave a power point presentation to the fellow
teachers of Auden Public School. I also informed them about the participation
procedures for 2008 space camp batch in which details have already been
publicised in Honeywell web site.

All the teachers were inspired by space camp methodologies adopted to promote the Maths and Science teaching at Primary and High School level, which is not only educative but also fun filled. All the teachers were amazed to hear that Honeywell is doing a yomen service to the teacher fraternity by providing the scholarship for interested teachers to gain more knowledge through space camp workshop.

Inaguration of Space Club at SSM School by Dr K N Shankara, Director, ISRO Satellite centre

S.S.M School had organized a thematic exhibition portraying the creative models and charts depicting space technology, which was inaugurated by Dr.K.N.Shankara, Director ISRO satellite centre and delivered a lecture on Space and Technology past, present and future.

In his inaugural lecture he stressed on the important contribution of Indian and European scientists and how Albert Einstein’s work has brought forty noble prizes to the scientists who have worked based on his principles.
He spoke about the contributions of ISRO for present and future endeavors in the field of space technology and its applications in day to day life. He stressed the importance of Nano technology, GPS, energy crisis, solar energy. He emphasized the need for harnessing solar energy which is a renewable resource through Geo Satellites and the connected research going on in ISRO.
Dr.Shankara also spoke about Chandrayana -The journey to Moon to explore the resources in moon and also to explore the possibilities of colonisation on Moon. He also advised the children to set high goals and the need to explore various aspects of science and technology programs through Edusat.
Prof.M.R.Doreswamy Founder Secretary of S.S.M and P.E.S group of Institutions presided over the functions in his presidential address, he advised the students to explore the scientific advancements and make use of Nano technology and space technology.
Mrs.Radha Doreswamy Director of S.S.M also attended the function. The welcome speech for the dignitaries was delivered by Mrs. Kalpana Prakash, Principal of the School.

An Interactive session with Holy Child School teachers about my experiences of Space Camp

I was invited by the management of Holy Child School, BSK-1,Bangalore, to deliver a lecture and presentation on my space camp experience on 1st Sept 2007 between 1.30pm to 2.30pm. During this program I gave a presentation of the objectives of the space camp, teaching modules and benefits of the space camp. I also gave an information about the procedures to apply for the 2008 batch. Teachers were enthusiastic to know the procedures involved in applying for same.

Space Camp Experiences to fellow teachers of East West Institution, Bangalore

It was my previlege to deliver Space Camp expereience presentation to the fellow teachers of East West Institutions, Bangalore on 30th Aug 2007. I always cherish memories of my maiden professional teaching services which began at East west School about 17 years ago. Firstly, I briefed them about the procedures involved in applying for Honeywell sponsored Workshop for 2008 batch at NASA's US Space and Rocket Centre, Huntaville, Alabama, USA. Secondly, I shared all my experiences of the workshop through a power point presentation with a brief introduction to every event that happend in the workshope since day one. Teachers were delighted to know, space centre's innovative methods of making science and maths teaching interesting to students. They also learnt more about low cost model making techniques adopted by Space Centre.

Sharing my space camp experiences with fellow teachers of Sri Krishna International School, Bangalore

I had an opportunity to share my space camp experiences with fellow teachers of Sri Krishna International School, Bangalore on 23rd Aug 2007 in their school premises. Teachers were more enthusiastic to know about my experiences in space camp, which I recently attended during Jun 22nd - 29th 2007 in Huntsville, Alabama,USA. I gave them a presentation of space camp experiences including the procedures to apply for the work shop for 2008 batch. Teacheres were thrilled to know the methodology adopted by space camp educators to teach the most complicated topics of Maths and Science in a simple way to understand better at the class room conditions. I have offered my services to share my knowledge to their students for developing a space club in the school.

SSM students participation in Inter School Science Exhibition held at PESIT, Bangalore, 16th-18th Aug 2007

Inter school science exhibition was organised in PESIT, Bangalore, wherein more than 15 schools arround Bangalore south city participated. Our School ie., SSM school students also participated. They have exhibited the working models and charts in space Science. Our school children were inspired by my participation in global workshop at Space Camp Huntsville, and were guided by me to exhibit the models related to Space Technology. These model and charts were prepared by students of Middle and High school grades according to their class science syllabus. They worked for about 15 days to prepare these models. Out of all these models, Bottle Rocket launching stole the show.

No. of School participated: 15 schools from Bangalore south city
No. Students participated: 180 students from all schools
No. Students from SSM: 15 students
No. of visitors in 3 days: about 5000 people including general public,studetns, teachers and science lovers.
